1 / 3Built interface — Quest journal
Overview
Quest & Progression gives a survival or RPG server a quest system that is written in YAML rather than code. A quest is a list of objectives with a type, a target and a count, such as mine forty copper ore, talk to the harbourmaster or reach the ruined tower, and objectives can branch, so choosing one dialogue option or one delivery target opens a different next step and a different reward.
NPC dialogue runs through chat with clickable options or through a chest-style GUI, and works with Citizens NPCs or with named entities you place yourself. The journal GUI lists active, available and completed quests with progress bars, objective text and the reward preview, and a compass-style tracker on the action bar points to the current objective's location when one is set.
Daily and weekly boards pick from a pool of repeatable quests you define, with a fixed reset time, a streak counter and a bonus for completing the whole board. Progression tiers sit above quests: each tier has an XP threshold, a title, permission grants through LuckPerms and a reward command, so a player who finishes the harbour chapter can unlock the next area, a new recipe or a rank.
Everything the plugin knows is exposed through PlaceholderAPI, so scoreboards, tab and holograms can show tier, XP, active quest and board progress. Player data is stored in SQLite or MySQL and survives a network move. Updates follow Paper releases and Citizens API changes, and new objective types are added as they are written, with quests.yml examples for each.

Eligible resources
The plan covers these resource types. Individual resources are listed in your Gaming Library as they publish.
- Quest definitions
- Dialogue trees
- Journal GUI
- Daily boards
- Progression tiers
- Objective types
Features
- Quests written in YAML
- Objectives, dialogue, branches and rewards are plain config fields, so a staff member can write a chapter without touching Java.
- Boards that refresh
- Daily and weekly boards draw from a pool at a fixed reset time, with streaks and a completion bonus that give players a reason to return.
- Progress others can see
- Tier, XP and active quest are PlaceholderAPI values, so scoreboards, tab and holograms show progression without extra plugins.
